About the Town of Danvers

Originally named Salem Village, the Town of Danvers is most popularly known for its involvement in the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 and the Rebecca Nurse Homestead (the former home of a woman who was convicted of witchcraft) is a visitable historic landmark, popular among tourists.

The Danvers River runs along the southeast corner of the town and it is paralleled by the Ipswich River along the western border. Located almost exactly halfway between New Hampshire and Downtown Boston, Danvers is often the connection between the northern Massachusetts and the amenities of downtown life.

The population of Danvers is relatively small (a bit more that 25,000), due to the expansive space between homes, unlike the more metropolitan suburbs in the direct Boston Area. Though the diversity in the area could use some work, there is a lot of diversity in family style. About 30% of the households in Danvers are housing families with children, and about 56% house married couples without children, as well at 31% non-families. The public school system in Danvers is rated #2,091 in America and has a B+ overall rating on Niche.com. Most of the categories in the school are ranked in the A range including academics and teachers, but the schools suffer in diversity ratings, ranking only at a C+. The median home value in Danvers is about $445,800, and the real estate market is hot, hot, hot! The average rent is about $2400.

There are many things to do in Danvers. There are a few beautiful parks and farms open to the public, as well as historic houses available for touring. Enjoy the tropical fun of the CoCo Key Waterpark or a day of shopping at the Liberty Tree Mall. One thing is for sure: you will never be bored in this adorable suburb!

The Rebecca nurse homestead

Home to one of the most famous women involved in the Salem Witch Trials, this site has now been turned into a museum and historical event site for the public.

Rebecca Nurse was put to death in 1692 for witchcraft as part of the Salem Witch Trials. This is considered to be one of the most interesting parts of Danvers' history and for this reason they upkeep the homestead beautifully all year round!
