About the City of Boston

The City of Boston is the capital of Massachusetts and the cultural hub of the state. Boston's 23 neighborhoods serve as a political and cultural organizing system for the city and each neighborhood has its own benefits to enjoy!

Boston is the most populous place in Massachusetts as well as all of New England, home to nearly 700,000 people. It is one of the oldest cities in America and was the location of several key events in the American Revolution such as the Boston Tea Party, the Boston Massacre, the Battle of Bunker Hill and the Siege of Boston. These historic events and more make for many historical things to see and do throughout the city.

The Boston are houses many colleges and universities, making it an international hub of higher learning including law, medicine, engineering and business and is home to nearly 20,000 startups. The economic base of Boston is primarily made up of finance, business and biotechnology as well as government activities. Boston ranks among the highest in the country for philanthropy, environmental developments and investments. However because of this, and the new construction of many luxury buildings, Boston has one of the highest cost of living ratios in the U.S.

Museum of Fine Arts

The Museum of Fine Arts is the fifth largest museum in the United States and contains over 450,000 works of art. Here, you can view some of the world's finest works from the Americas, Europe and pre-Middle Ages works.

You can also attend many classes and events at the MFA including upscale dancing events, movie nights, scavenger hunts and more.

The Boston Common

The Boston Common is a central public park near the center of the city. It is the oldest park in the United States and one of our capitol's most visited attractions. 

The Common was used as a camp in the Revolutionary War, a gallows site, a protest spot (historically and presently) and houses a large burial ground.
